About seventy percent of the populations of Nepal are living in the rural areas. Therefore developments in urban centers alone do not indicates the overall development of the country. Only with the improvement in transportation facilities in rural areas, there could be faster development of these areas, resulting in overall development of the country. The fertilizers and other inputs for agriculture and tourism and cottage industries could reach the rural population easily and the products of the villages can be sold at the nearest market centers for more remunerative prices, resulting in faster economic growth and decreased wastage. By providing improved facilities for education health care and other social needs. In the villages, the urge for the migration of the population to urban centers decreases, thus helping in balanced development of the country as a whole.

The impacts of rural road connectivity , from the recent rural road development programs in the country are as follows:

    • Improvement in transportation service leads to improve access to market centers for the rural producers, better availability of farm inputs at reduced prices
    • Diversification of  agricultural produce with improved market access promotes shifts in favor of cash crops and commercialization of agricultural activities
    • Diversification of livelihood opportunities with better connectivity enhances employment opportunities in the non-agricultural sectors
    • Improved services with improved road connectivity, inter-alia, enhance access to education, health and financial services
    • Increases in the outreach due to improved rural roads facilitates better availability of public services and functionaries in rural areas

The definition of technology is science or knowledge put into practical use to solve problems or invent useful tools. It is an application of science to solve a problem. Technology refers to the practical application of scientific knowledge for a purpose. it also includes the capability and skills required to apply the knowledge.

There is a revolution in civil engineering happening due to technology. From drones to innovative construction materials, be on the looked for how technology will influence, impact and improve the civil engineering industry in twenty first century.

In recent decay, the most one benefit from technology taken by a civil engineer is software tool in design part.

Software packages are to the civil engineers what a towel is to a mason. In short, a civil engineer, through a mathematical model, analyze the behavior of construction materials, from the result of these analysis he or she can select the appropriate material and their combination for an efficient design. Software packages streamline these processes, allowing the engineer to do fast and accurate computation using different mathematical model and output them in a human-friendly graphical representation and effectively easing cross-disciplinary collaboration. A design process that could have taken years now could be reduced to a couple of weeks.

Similarly like design part, the benefit of technology taken by civil engineer in other area are described below.

    i) More efficient daily operations

In the part, construction companies faced the challenge of creating and sharing design information in real time. Designers and other professional would have to manually draw up sketches, project outlines and illustration. They would then have to send the sketches to relevant personnel and customers for review and approval.

With construction technology, project managers can use software to co-ordinate projects, share digital sketches and receive feedback in real time. In this way, the daily operations of construction companies large and small are improving significantly.

Construction technology also allows users to co-ordinate information across departments and with their clients. This results in a less costly and more streamlined daily operational model, with reduced changes orders and miscommunication.

ii) Smarter and more durable structures

Construction technologies produce smarter and more durable structures in two main ways:

    a) By designing better from scratch.

    b) By retrofitting existing structures for increased durability

    iii) Use of better tools

Implementing construction technology is all about taking advantage of the best tools on the market today, and using them to create better work. Whether it’s using 3D imaging to generate more interactive models, laser scanning to facilitate efficient renovations or estimating systems that allow you to reduce costs, there is no shortage of platforms to improve your business.

    iv) Better client services

For many years, the construction industry has had the challenge of communicating information efficiently to clients; owners would have to frequently visit the construction site to see how their project was proceeding and to ensure high standards of quality.

    v) Innovation

Much of the innovation in the construction industry is being driven by technological advancements and with new software features added to platforms on a frequent basis, construction professionals are constantly presented with new opportunities for growth.

An information society is a society where the creation, distribution, uses, integration and manipulation of information is a significant economic, political and cultural activity. Its main drivers are digital information explosion and are profoundly changing all aspects of social organization including the economy, education, health, warfare, government and democracy.

The people who have the means to preface in this form of society are sometimes called digital citizens. This is one of many dozen labels that have been identified to suggest that humans are entering a new phase of society.

The markers of this rapid change may be technological, economic, occupational, spatial, cultural or some combination of all of these. Information society is seen as the successor to industrial society. Closely related concepts are the post-industrial society. Closely related concepts are the post-industrial society, post-fordism, post-modern society, knowledge society, telematic society, information revolution, liquid modernity and network society.

Soil is an accumulation or deposit of earth material, derived naturally from the disintegrated of rocks or decay of vegetation, which can be excavated readily with power equipment in the field or disintegrated by gentle mechanical means in the laboratory. The supporting soil beneath pavement and its special under courses is called sub grade. It is most important part of road structure. It is the soil which provides support to the road from below and therefore, it should possess sufficient strength and stability undermost adverse loading and climate conditions. It is the first layer of any type of road construction and considered as one of the principal highway material.

Undisturbed soil beneath the pavement is called natural sub grade. Compacted sub grade is the soil compacted by controlled movement of heavy compacters.

Effect of poor sub grade conditions

1.Improper compaction and inadequate strength in sub grade soil causes road failure in form of wavy surface, corrugations; rutting and shoving in flexible roads (i.e. normally bituminous road)
2.Result the phenomena of soil pumping, blowing and cracking the cement concrete roads.
3.Plastic deformation of road pavement under the application of excessive wheel road.
So it is very important to make sub grade soil incompressible- To achieve this, the selected superior quality soils are borrowed and used for construction. The soil must be compacted adequately and method stabilization technique must be adopted.

KVA stands for kilo-volt-ampere, which basically is the unit of electric power. While calculating kVA of any piece of equipment the power factor is not taken into account. (i.e.) Power in kVA = Voltage x Current.

This means kVA is the unit of measurement for that equipment in which the output power is independent of power factor. For example Rating of Alternators, Transformers, and UPS etc. On the other hand, KW (KiloWatts) is also the unit of electric power for that equipment in which power factor plays a role. Normally machines that produce a mechanical output is rated in kilowatts. For example the rating of electric motors. Read More about power factor.

Power Transformer Transformers are an energy transfer device that transfers power from the primary side to the secondary side without altering the energy level (considering zero power loss). Iron loss and copper loss occurring in the transformer are also independent of the power factor. Moreover, the output power factor of the transformer purely depends on the connected load. The transformer does not alter the power factor of its output power. Transformers are rated in kVA because the losses occurring in the transformers are independent of power factor.

    Power Transformer

KVA is the unit of apparent power. It is a combination of real power and reactive power. Transformers are manufactured without considering the load being connected. So any kind of electrical load can be connected to it (either resistive, capacitive, inductive or combination loads). If the transformer is rated in KW, there may be confusions regarding the type of load being connected. This is why the transformer is rated in KVA. By doing so we can eliminate the confusions regarding the type of load being connected.
